A Big Ole Barn Filled With Love | Our Cape Breton Wedding Stories; Part 2

If you didn’t have a chance to check out part 1 in this series from last week about our proposal story, definitely go give that a read, as I’ll be drawing comparisons and referring back! And now, we fast forward to the big day. Our big, rainy, crazy, beautiful wedding day......
Part 2: The Wedding; A Big Ole Barn Filled With Love!

As I reflect on our wedding day, I’m drawing similarities to our proposal story. Namely, the fact that nothing went according to plan. Which as the bride that day, and a business owner now, taught me the need to sometimes just roll with the punches. That regardless of how much you plan, sometimes God has something else in mind.
So we had planned an outdoor wedding on a good friends farm. Followed by dinner and a “fiddle music” shin-dig in the barn. We banked on nice weather. We didn’t come up with a back up plan(other then jamming everyone in the barn). Well of course you might of guessed what happened. It rained.... and not a pleasant light summer’s day sun shower. Like, torrential downpour.  And to top it all off, I was sick🤒. What I didn’t know was how much of a blessing that rain would be.
Our “backup” plan went into effect! We thankfully found a beautifully random little greenhouse, who’s owners graciously allowed us to do our first look and photos in. We then packed all 300 of our guests into the barn, where we brought the term “intimate wedding”  to a whole new level. With winds gusting and rain falling, we lifted our prayers, worship, celebration and love to God, uniting in marriage.  I believe it was definitely by design that we all ended up in that barn. The emotion was evident, and the love was overflowing. And similar to our proposal story, in the end, we didn’t care about the details, or the “stuff”. Rather, we simply focused on what was truly happening, and rejoiced in our marriage!
Unfortunately, that sickness I spoke of earlier put a damper on our party(for at least Paul and I), and we took off for a break, while everyone else had a blast swinging there partners round and round. This is one of the many reasons we love the fact that we had a wedding video done. Because in the chaos of our day getting flipped upside down, along with missing virtually the whole party, we now get to re-live and re-watch our day whenever we desire. Which has now become one of our favourite anniversary traditions! And while this is a topic for another day, one of the most common lines we hear from couple is “we wish we had a wedding video”. And all I can say to that is, AMEN! We see new things every time we watch ours. And it's a keepsake we’ll cherish forever.
We hope you’ve felt immersed and intrigued by our wedding memory fun! And that through reading along, you’ll feel encouraged in those life moments that don’t quite go according to plan.
