I want to start this post by mentioning that I’ve certainly been humbled about getting in front of a camera myself. The video posted with this blog took a few more takes than I would like to admit, and we even had to come back on multiple occasions (in the same clothes), to get just the right shots. So I get it, cameras can be a little bit scary. BUT, there is power in video content. And it’s important to understand the impact that YOU, as a business owner or decision-maker have by utilizing video to tell your story.
As important as it is to market your products and services well, it’s equally important that your clients get to know you on a more personal level. They want to know your story! They desire that personal connection and want to learn the things that motivate you in certain ways, or what inspired you to do what you’ve done. The strategies that have worked, and the obstacles you’ve overcome. That connection will help you build relationships with the people you want to reach. (I’ve been extremely motivated in this area by Jenna Kutcher, a photographer and podcaster from Wisconsin. I would definitely recommend checking her out.)
Aside from helping you to share your story and connect more personally with your demographic, statistically, video content is also an incredibly influential tool. Let’s look at some facts that serve as a great indicator of the underlying truth of our topic for today (from Forbes, Sept 6, 2017):
1. By 2019, video content will account for 80 percent of all consumer internet traffic.
2. An email that contains a video leads to a 200-300% increase in click-through rates.
3. After watching a video, 64 % of people or more likely to buy a product online.
It’s clear, video consumption is on the rise. It boosts reach, increases website traffic, and allows us to interact more actively with our clients. As an example, let’s look at the video on this post. This was just a short clip of myself and my husband, sharing how, and why Martin Media Productions came to be. And what some of our aspirations are. It was viewed nearly 14,000 times, and dramatically increased our social media platform followings, ultimately creating a great number of leads which resulted in landing new clients!
Now, obviously the way in which we distribute this content plays a huge role in the return on investment, but I just wanted to give a glimpse of its potential to generate real business results (We’ll talk about distribution another time).
So whether your objectives are to expand an existing business, launch a new one, boost a not-for-profit, mount an important public information program, or celebrate an important family milestone, give it your best means by employing the unique power of video.
Martin Media, Cape Breton's foremost video production firm, would be proud to be your partner in tailoring a unique, high-value video product to help you meet and exceed your objectives.
